Version 1.6.0.2 (03/20/2009)
- Made some internal changes to better handle reference processing (in anticipation of new dictionary modules – Thompson’s Chain Reference, and International Standard Bible Encyclopedia).
- Fixed a couple minor bugs.
Version 1.6.0.1 (03/12/2009)
02-25-2009
- Added a few more English Bible translations.
- Added a King James 1611 Red Letter Edition Bible version that does not contain the Apocrypha.
- ‘3 Maccabees’ and ‘4 Maccabees’ are now included in all Apocryphal texts.
- Added Tooltips to the Bible and Ref Works List Windows.
02-08-2009
- Added several new English Bible translations, as well as several non-English versions (Dutch, French, German, and Spanish). All together there are now around 40 Bible versions available. Here is a listing of the currently available Bibles.
- Added an “Ignore Diacritics” checkbox option to the “Search Window Options” dialog . If checked, the search engine willignore all diacritics in the search text.
- Because of the number of available CrossAlive Bibles (~40), only a small subset of the available Bibles are downloaded and installed by default from the CrossAlive website. After the main product has been installed, the user can then decide to install or uninstall any/all Bibles at their discretion.
- A new “Manage Bibles” menu option has been added to the “Organize” menu contained in the “Bible List Window”.
- A new “Manage Commentaries” and "Manage Dictionaries" menu option has been added to the “Organize” menu contained in the “Reference List Window”.
11-20-2008
- The “Search Window” results list has been reworked. It is now a multi-select list that enables the user to perform actions on a set of selected items. The mechanism for the selection of multiple items follows the normal Window’s multi-selection list rules (ctrl + select toggles selection, shift + select extends the selection, etc). Selection is denoted by the presence (or absence) of a “highlight strip” at the very left of the search item.
10-10-2008
- Added user registration support. This is a volunteer, non-required, user comfort orientated only item. Nothing is (or will be) done with any supplied user info – except to loosely track CrossAlive usage and distribution. Part of the hope here, is that we can, in the future, gain some valued input from the user pertaining to their specific experiences and observations while using CrossAlive.
09-08-2008
- Added a basic “Print” option to CrossAlive system windows (Bible, Commentary, Dictionary, and Search windows).
- Main CrossAlive window “Organize/Close All” menu item now supports Commentary and Dictionary Windows.
Version 1.5.0.13 (08/16/2008)
- Added a user configurable display option for customizable viewing of Strong's Numbers.
The user can now configure Bible and Commentary Windows (via their respective "Options / Settings" dialog) to display Strong's Numbers in one of the following formats:- None - Strong's Numbers will not be displayed
- Numeric - (default) The numeric Strong's number will be displayed
- Original Language - The Hebrew or Greek word associated with the Strong's number will be displayed
- Transliteration - The transliterated Hebrew or Greek word associated with the Strong's number will be displayed
- "Copy Verse/Definition/Entry" now uses the source window's formatting routines for the formatting of the copied text.
For example, if the user has a Bible Window open and selects a range of verses to copy, it will now be copied using the Bible Window's formatting routines. Thusly, all formatting that is performed for the display of the verses in the Bible Window will now be done for the copied text. This same process is also present for the Commentary and Dictionary windows. The following example illustrates some of the changes present as a result of this change:Bible Window copy - Old:
"Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple. But he answered them, "You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down." As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?" And Jesus answered them, "See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. " - Matt 24:1-8 - ESV
Bible Window copy - New:
Jesus Foretells Destruction of the Temple
Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple. But he answered them, You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down."
Signs of the Close of the Age
As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?" And Jesus answered them, "See that no one leads you astray.
Version 1.5.0.12 (07/07/2008)
- Wrote a new set of tooltip processing routines to better be able to present footnotes and references in a more informative manner.
- Renamed HisWord to CrossAlive. The rename was made per the request of Tom Hoover - who currently has a PalmTop Bible program by the same name.
Version 1.5.0.11 (06/11/2008)
- Added NASB Bible version with Strong's Numbers.
- Fixed an html source formatting issue with the normal NASB text in Psalm 18 and 54.
Version 1.5.0.10 (06/10/2008)
- Added code to alert the user when a new version of HisWord is available for download.
Version 1.5.0.8 (06/08/2008)
- Removed the NIV, TNIV, and HCSB Bible versions.
Version 1.5.0.9 (06/08/2008)
- Changed the 'ProductCode' for HisWord, so that the install procedure will automatically uninstall any previous version.
Version 1.5.0.7 (06/06/2008)
- Added support for Pre and Post search result filtering. The pre-filtering mechanism only
applies to Bible and Commentary text searches (ie. It has no effect when searching dictionaries).
The pre filter level of granularity is at the Testament and/or category level (Old Testament,
Pentateuch, Wisdom, Gospels, etc), as further dissection seemed of little gain.
Pre filtering criteria is set up via the green filter icon on the Search Window menu/tool bar. If a Pre-filter is set, then the Search Window title text will reflect this by showing a "(PF)" in the title. The pre filter criteria is maintained as set, until the user physically sets it to another value (ie. it is maintained across HisWord invocations as well as across disparate searches).
The post filtering criteria is set by accessing the down arrow on the red filter icon at the same location. As was previously the case, pressing on the post filter icon root (not the down arrow, but the area to the left of it) will clear any post filter criteria set. Note, the post filter criteria is dynamically created each search, as it is dependant upon the search results. - Restored
Ctrl + LeftMouseClickfunctionality to the Search Window - for Bible Windows only.
When you perform a search and you LeftMouseClick on an item reference, that reference will be navigated to and highlit in the associated Bible Window (as normal). If, however, you hold theCtrl keydown when you select an item with the mouse, HisWord will navigate to that reference for every currently open Bible window - if possible (not all Bible versions have the same books - ie. Apocrypha).
For instance, if you have an NIV, NASB, and HCSB Bible Window currently open, and you perform a search on one of the Bible Windows, when youCtrl + LeftMouseClickon a Search Window result reference, the NIV, NASB, and HCSB windows will all be positioned to the selected reference. - Made HisWord restore to the "Normal" WindowState if it was either Maximized or Minized when closed.
- Completed search display code for Regular Expression searches.
- 06-05-2008 -- Fixed a handful of formatting issues in several of the included Bibles. Most of the formatting issues dealt with the "words of Jesus" not being shown as such, or an extraneous italicized tag being awry. These issues were made apparent by the previous output performance rework.
- Fixed a chapter/verse conflict in the HCSB. The version of the HCSB text obtained for HisWord actually had 1Sam 4:22 as 1Sam 3:22 - causing various problems with footnotes and the like.
- 06-04-2008 -- Reworked the text output mechanism for the Bible, Commentary, and Dictionary windows. This was done to improve performance of especially large and/or 'note' intensive displays (though every display has significantly benefited). Displaying windows, such a Bible Window of the KJV with Strong's numbers, is now relatively instantaneous.
Version 1.5.0.6 (05/29/2008)
- Added support for "Strong's Numbers" into the system.
This entailed the following:- Adding "The King James Bible With Strong's Numbers"
- Adding "Strong's Greek Dictionary" - (SGD)
- Adding "Strong's Hebrew Dictionary" - (SHD)
- Adding "Vine's New Testament Bible Dictionary" - (VNT)
And modifying the following to support the above additions:- Bible Windows now support Bible versions with Strong Numbers. Currently this only entails the King James Version (no others are planned at present)
- Commentary Windows now support inline Bible versions with Strong's Numbers.
- The Search Window will now accept references to Strong's Numbers.
To search for a given Greek Strong's Number, precede the number with a 'G' (no spaces in between), for a Hebrew Strong's Number precede it with an 'H'. For example, to find all references to the Greek Strong's Number 2316, you would type in "G2316" (without the quotes). To find the Hebrew Strong's Number 430, you would type in "H430".
Strong's Numbers can be used in all simple and Boolean searches as normal textual input.
The above will return you all verses that contains the Greek Strong's numbers 2316 and 444 and has the word "written" in it - but does not have the word "truth" in it.Example 1: ((G2316 AND written) AND G444) AND (NOT truth)
The above will return you all verses that has either the Greek Strong's number 2316 (God) or the Hebrew Strong's number 430 (God) and has both the words "man" and "sin" in it.Example 2: ((G2316 OR H430) AND man) AND sin
Note that, obviously, any search that contains an "AND" of a Greek and Hebrew word will always fail - Hebrew, Old Testament - Greek New Testament. - Context menu support has been modified to support right-clicking on a Strong's Number. This will let the user perform lookups and searches as with all other normal text lookups and searches.
- Modified the context menu "See Alternate Definition" submenu items to reflect whether the specified dictionary contains an entry for the topic in question. A very lax lookup/search is performed on the text selected. If an exact match cannot be found, a gross check for the plural/singular form is performed - this is not guaranteed to match all cases given. A quasi-match is noted by bolding the dictionary's title text in the popup.
- "Chapter" menu selections (activated either via right mouse click on the Book List Window, or from the navigation toolbar chapter dropdown) nows shows which chapter is currently selected before a new selection is made.
- Added the ability to set the main text font and color in the Search Window.
- Removed reference to "Personal Notes" (future enhancement) from the Bible Window Settings Dialog.
- 05-10-2008 -- Fixed some extraneous parsing anomylies in the "text reference" parsing code. In particular, references like "Dan 3:1, 5:6" is now handled correctly (before you had to specify "Dan 3:1; 5:6".
- "Text reference" parsing code has had a couple minor additions added to it. They are:
- Single chapter books can be referenced without specifying the chapter. Hence references like "Jude 6-10" will be understood to be referencing "Jude 1:6-10" by default.
- You can now specify "and all following verses" via "ff" as the verse designation. Hence references like "John 3:4-ff" will be taken as "John 3:4-36"
- 04-20-2008 -- Fixed some extraneous clipboard format issues (rtf text was being set for both the rtf and text formats in some cases).
- Added a "Coalesce References" option to the Bible Window and Commentary Window "Copy Format" option dialog. This option tells the system (during a Search Window context menu "Copy References" selection) to coalesce the references (eg. John 3:1; John 3:3; John 3:4; John 3:5; John 5:6; John 5:10; John 5:6; John 5:10-12 is coalesced into John 3:1,3-5; 5:6,10-12)
Version 1.5.0.5 (04/19/2008)
- Added quick definition selection items into the Dictionary Window "Goto" reference menu.
Version 1.5.0.4 (04/17/2008)
- Added "Nave's Topical Bible Dictionary"
- Added/updated "About" information for newly added Dictionary Works.
- Reworked context menu support for Commentary and Dictionary selection
- Reworked (removed, actually) support for "default" Commentary and Dictionary settings from all options dialogs. (This was done in concert with the previous context menu change)
- Added support for the "View" menu in the Reference Works List.
- Also added Reference Works List display support for the appropriate settings in the "Options/Settings" dialog.
- 04-10-2008 -- Added "Hitchcock's Bible Names"
- Added "King James Bible Dictionary"
- Fixed issue with Book List window not syncronising properly when switching from one dictionary to another.
- Fixed a problem with the Book Window not being cleared/updated appropriately when all Document windows were closed.
- Fixed a problem with right-click context menu items. When a right click ocurred in the first word of a line - on the first line of the screen, the context menu items containing auto-selected words were not correct (due to RichTextBox character non-visability).
